Good News!!!

Not only am I super duper clumsy... just look at all the bruises I have... all the time... no matter what time of year it is or time of day. Yes, I'm a hot mess and I'm a lil proud of it. But I'm also SUPER forgetful! EEEP! I really try not to be. I like to write things down and tape them all over the house. Esp by the computer since I'm here most of the day. So it's no wonder that it's now a full week into Feb and I totally forgot about TWO publications online that some of my artwork has been featured in!

And then over at ScrapnArt.com to see the mixed media project I did a few months back. It's so excited to have that up somewhere as it's very new to me... you know... the mixed media thing. Not gluing tho... I'm an expert with a doctorate in adhering crap! Dr. Lizzie of Glueology (light bulb) I'm totally going to make something for my craft room now that says that!
And another awesome fun thing about the ScrapnArt publication... I'm on the front page of the website!

That might not be excited to some of you paper crafting vets out there... but to me? ZOMG I'm grinning from ear to ear! That's just beyond awesome! WOOOOO!!!!!! /dance /cheer /smile
Okay... enough with my gloating... but I am excited that I remembered that I was published b/4 the month was up! I think that deserves a cookie all on it's own!!

I am very happy to announce something that has been a dream of mine for the longest time. As a lot of crafters have the same dream... and it's truly amazing to say that a dream of mine has come true. I can check this off my 29 before 29 list and my list of life goals... I'm so excited! And I couldn't be apart of a better company!
Yes I said COMPANY! As I am not on the design team for Tickled Pink Stamps. That's right dudes and dudettes... I'm officially a PINK LADY! Do you know how excited I am? I am over the freaking moon! I've known for a few days but wanted to keep it hush hush until I knew it was official!

So please stay tuned to all the wonderful things Tickled Pink Stamps will have in store for you as well as what I can come up with!

I know... it seems kinda sad that I have more friends over the internet then in real life... I would in a heart beat sit at my computer and chat the day away with a buddy then go out for coffee... I mean I could have coffee here! hahaa And I can stay in my jammies and no one will judge me!
I have to say tho... one buddy is kinda awesome. Her name is Carisa. You might know of her... she is an amazing card maker that has been on amazing DT's like The Greeting Farm and Helmar.

She pretty much inspires me daily. I love gawking over her cards... I love having skype dates with her... she's just the bee's knees!!
And it's pretty amazing that she has enlisted in my help to make her dream come true in the form of an online magazine. It's awesome and stunning and I can't wait for you all to see it on Feb 1st!!
She's a beautiful soul and person and I'm very happy to have her in my life!!
Carisa... YOU ROCK!!!!!! And if we didn't live so darn far from each other I would be at your house every day coloring up a storm with you!

Here is the card that I used with an awesome SOG digi... I love her so much. And I dug into my stash and used a lot of older papers... some melody ross paper, sassafrass (ugh I hope they have something awesome at CHA this year, I miss them since they changed) and Echo Park stickers... lots of fun and old product! It's fun to dig thru your stuff and find stuff that you forgot about!!

I'm so excited to share that I have been asked to be apart of an amazing group of ladies. The gang over at A Year in the Life of an Art Journal! I first found out about Art Journaling from Miss Rachel herself over at Tallyscrapper.com and while I tried to keep up to her awesomeness, it was just a lil over my head at that time. A few years passed by and now I'm back at it! And I'm helping to introduce a new format... using your SMASH books as your daily or not so daily art journals! Now I'm saying Art Journal VERY loosly here... of course you can super artsy and paint and draw and get super messy. Or you can, in true smash fashion just SMASH and THROW stuff in your journals that will go with our theme. Oh yes themes! Themes, Challenges, Prompts whatever you want to call them, we got them! Twice a month we will tickle your creative brain to come up with some super fun pages!

This is what I have done so far. I am using a real Smash Book! /gasp Of course I had to jazz it up a bit! And also here is the first page in my book... it's about our first prompt for the year... your OLW (One Little Word) of the year... Mine is LOVE. And there are other elements to the prompt as well. With some paint, and tape, and lots of paper I made a fun page that describes what I'm going for this year. It's a lil smashy and a lil AJy... but it's all FUN!!
So... will you be joining us this year on our AJ journey?

A Shrek Of a Crocheting Time!

It's so big surprise I like to play with yarn... crocheting is very calming and to me... it's the great way to multitask while watching t.v! Here is another lil creation I cooked up for a buddy of mine that has one awesome lil man who LOVES that big green ogre.

And what a perfect lil model Mr. Jax was... I really like making my own stuff... it's funny b/c I'm using so much graph paper... who would have thunk I would be buying that stuff by bulk again?

Today while sitting at my desk I thought I'd work on a CAS card... then I remembered that the SC Challenge this week is CAS! YAY! So here is me... trying to be clean and simple!

On piece of patterned paper...only one punched uses... and lookie... not a butt load of doodles! lol I love it! I might have to work on this CAS look a lil more... of course with my lil twist on it! And I had fun with my sewing machine and the footer cover thingie... Ima have to break that puppy out more too!!

My Craft Room

As some of you know, I moved back in Aug/Sept and for the past few years I haven't had a crafty space... me and the kids would just dig out stuff and sit at the dinning room table and try to create something. But it wasn't inspiring... there was nothing around us to that made us 'want' to create! It would end up being more like a chore then something fun! We would spend 30 mins looking for something to use, then another 30 mins to an hour cleaning everything up! So when we moved, I knew the first thing I wanted to work on was a craft room! It's mine and the kiddos! I have one side and they have one side, but the whole room is totally inspirational for all of us!

FYI I think I might have spent 10 dollars to make this room... I made everything that I had on hand, except some felt and a bed sheet I got from the thrift store to make my table skirt.

Here is my 'side'... the opposite side of the room is meant to have bar stools and is like a breakfast counter/nook thingie. Yes... this room was intended on being a dinning room... but who needs a dinning room!!!

I need alot of storage... I have lots of lil things and tons of yarn so I needed some bookcases/shelves. These we have had for years... so I painted them white and then when you add all the elements it looks amazing! Here is where I get crafty... see that pink box up there with the white dots and lines in the first picture? That is a laundry soap box! I just covered it with some fabric... and as an added bonus... it makes the room smell fresh and clean! I keep my punches in there! See the green box at the box in the same photo? That is a diaper box! I covered it with some really pretty wrapping paper that I had left from Christmas a few years back... you'll see quite a few things covered in that paper btw. I also keep my printer in this room... it's easier for me here, and the kidds don't get into as much.

The big white shelf in the second picture,? A buddy of mine gave it to me! She is amazing of thinking of me when she needed to get rid of it! It holds my wood mounted stamps, patterns, and paints. On top of it I have a few hello kitty items that I've been collecting.

Here is another view of the book shelf closest to the wall. I got that big wooden tag from a giveaway on Brave Girls Club. It's very inspirational to look at and totally adds a special touch to that corner.

This is the wall that I fave when I create... How can anyway just look a plain wall? It would end up feeling like work! So I totally jazzed it up! All the frames I had on hand from our old apt and they were all brown... so I painted them! I also had a few prints laying around and printed some inspirational quotes and matted them with scrapbooking paper to give it a fun and funky pop. The buntting is just felt held together with fabric. The shelf use to be in my son's room when he was younger and he had more of a preschool theme. Since he's older he didn't like it... so I kept it blue and orange for my room! Also, lining the top of the wall I have some scrapbook LO's. You can use the page protectors that you have in your scrapbooks... or go buy a back of pages and then use it for your wall!

There is also a lil 'syle' board that I made out of cardboard... then I put ribbons and buttons on it and now I just slip in some photos or other things that I'm digging! I've seen these go for like 20 bucks at most stores... made mine for free and it took less then 30 mins!

Close up of my shelf... The lil Cubbie is from my buddy (the same one that gave me the white shelf! She's awesome huh?) I also have my vintage sewing boxes that hold an assortment of notions that I use for my sewing as well.

The kiddos side of the room. The table is from Ikea and they also have the stools for them (I think they are in their room lol) There is also a brown wood shelf that the hubby made me a few years ago to go under our old desk so I could store things... I use it now to store the kiddos craft things. Again, there is a board and also a few clothes line art work hangers.

Here is a view of the room from the doorway... we have a big window that lets in lots of light (hence why some of the photos suck! lol) The curtain I made myself... took me almost a month, but I also had other things going on... it's a ruff patchwork quilt of lots of fabric scraps I had.

There is also the paper rack and more boxes (see the green paper!) and my lil plast tower stand that I use to stash random bits in!

If you have ever sent me a card... chances are it's up there! Here is another clothes line hanger thingie that I love to make... just take yarn and tie it around nails that are in a wall and add clothes pins! No need to spend money on something fancy or even spend more than a few mins on making something like this... it's gonna be covered up with projects anyway! I also have a Hello Kitty banner my BFF sent me hanging up here too.

This is on top of my plastic tower thingie... it's three USPS boxes taped together... it gets a lil slouchy in the middle so I like to move around that wood grain box from top to bottom to help keep it's shape. I also store things that need to be mailed out in here and my lil smash books.

This is Alice... she loves Hello Kitty just as much as me... so I had to give her a make over. She is my sewing machine and we are totally crafty BFF's! It was easy to mod her... I took off the cover sticker (b/c I've have her for so long I know all her settings, but I saved it just in case!) and then I added wood grain contact paper. I actually used the original sticker with all the setting on it as a template to cut out the contact paper... she likes her new outfit.

And there you have it... my craft room! It's not the biggest... and yes, I do have to share it... but it's awesome to me and I LOVE it!!!!

I'm planning a wedding!

So on Dec 12th of this year I'm gonna get married! At first we weren't going to have a wedding... but then I thought... why not? We deserve to have a nice wedding and fun reception! And I think I can do it all for UNDER 1,000 bucks!

So in order to help me plan... I made a lil book... I used this diy but I just used reg notebook pages and plain paper and nothing thick that is gonna get plastered with paint or anything... I'll just be using a reg old pen!

I even have a fun pinterest board that I have been filling with fun ideas that I love. I'm not going to have a color scheme... to me this seems the easiest and cheapest way to go... I mean what if I can't find the perfect shade of lime green for something? I don't wanna end up paying 50 dollars for a pair of tights when I can find another color for five at payless that would work but aren't the exact color... see where I'm going?
So if you are planning a wedding this year... check back here and see about some fun and cheap ideas! I mean c'mon... most ppl spend 1,000 on their dress! I don't see the point in this... something you will wear once? Maybe twice (if you do a trash the dress shoot)... I'm doing my whole wedding for that cost!

This is the first LO of Jax that I ever did. I made it back in Jan 2011... I have to say, I was very proud of myself with the title lol (insert new kid dance here)

My introduction into TPS stamps... oh this love affair is forever! This is for the first challenge I ever entered over at the TPS challenge blog!

In this card I started to find myself a lil more with my coloring... I love fun, funky hair and from here on out the 'normal' hairs started to ween their way out of my cards

My super fun halloween fabric banner! This was a big hit with my community! I loved it! It's so cute and spooky all at the same time!!

Oh Saturated Canary... another amazing digi stamp brand I feel in love with this year!

I love coffee... so of course I had to make something coffee related!

Digi sbooking... the obsession started... here is a digi lo I did of Lily's third birthday party

Altered notebook I did for my son's teacher. She loved it!!!

It's a smash book! I learned how to make my own smash books!!! And I got grown up water colors!!!

What a SMASHING idea!

Smash books... don't know what I'm talking about? Then check this out!

If you are like me... then you hate spending money on crafty things... ESP things that you just KNOW you can make! And then the thought hits... well how the CRAP do I make that!!! I might not know how to make all the stuff you want to make... but here is one thing to cross off that list... A smash book!!!

First up... GATHERING!

You need quite a few things here... tons of different papers, envies... pretty much anything you want in your book. I have magazine pages, book pages, coloring pages, reg note book paper.

Hard cardboard/chipboard (this is the base of your book, you will cover it up tho!)

Crop-A-Dile or another heavy duty hole puncher (or a bind it all if you're fancy)

An old wire bound book (I used an old sketchbook that got slaughter by a dirty chai tea)

Glue

An idea of how to decorate your cover and odds and edds to decorate it with

Here is my unsightly, stained, and not so useful sketchbook. I carefully took the wire binding off. Now this sketchbook is made with some SUPER thick chipboard... so Ima use this as my base. If the book you are using is flimsy, just cut some hard chipboard/cardboard to the size of the book cover and then lay it on top and punch holes that way.

OR you could skip this whole step if you have a binding machine... you lucky lucky SOB

Next... SIZE! What size do you want your book? KEEP THIS HANDY! Write it down and keep it on your trimmer so you don't mess up anything! Allow a lil bit (I say about 1/4 inch) for the binding.

Take your envies or chipboards and cut to the sizes you want. I like those lil flappy things all through out my book. I like having odd shaped pages. This is me... you can cut everything different or cut it all the same size.

Pick out your papers!! If you have seen a smash book, the insides are NOT plain! That's the fun part of it! Take some scrapbook papers, book pages, whatever you find and cut them to the size of your book.

Here is a lil trick... chances are you're gonna be going crazy on these pages... and reg weight notebook paper or book pages are too thin. Take a few of them and glue them together! I took three pages of light weight paper to make a thicker paper. I used a paint brush to spread the glue around... you can also use a lil putty scrapper too. Make sure they dry flat! You can put a big book on top of them... or place them inside the book with some wax paper. Look at us combining baking and crafting!

Now decorate! You wanna make those plain pages pop out a lil... I took water colors and sprits and layered color on the book pages and graph pages. I also stamped a few simple things along the pages too.

Now that your pages are drying... lets work on the cover! I'm making my smash book for my 29 before 29 list! B/c I know the number of things I want... my book only has 30 pages... but you can make as many pages as you want!

Make sure your cover page is the size of the thick chipboard/cardboard cover. And glue that puppy on! I would recommend using a WET glue for this. Helmar and Aleene's have some of the best wet adheasives ever!

It's hole punching time!!! Like I said above... if you don't have a bind it all, we have to do it the slow dino times way. If you have a crop a dile this should make it a lot easier. Just light up the holes and punch. Measure twice punch once pls!!

Put that book together! Be careful with the wire binding and everything should fall into place! It's a lil on the tuff side, and totally takes way longer then using a binding machine... but hey! You gotta work with what you got! If you have a binding machine this should take you like an hour... if not... you might need a few breaks!

Here is the smash book! See the lil envie peaking out? I totally dig that look!!!

Here is the inside... see the pages aren't 'done' it's just the base pages for you to smash on!

yes it might be easier to go buy a smash book... but what smash book do you know that will have HELLO KITTY color pages in it? You can totally make this YOUR OWN! Make it for a friend! Make it for your child! It's a blast to make and when you start to smash the memories and hard work will come to you and make you smile! And isn't that what making stuff on your own is all about? Having fun and feeling accomplished!
So, now you can save a few bucks and make a few customized smash books!
Don't have wire binding? I've made one with jump rings! It doesn't seem as 'sturdy' but hey it does the job!!!

HB2U Sweet Lily

Today my only lil girl turns FOUR! She was almost a Christmas baby but since I was to have a scheduled C-Section they wanted to wait until I was starting to dilate to do it. My surgery date was Jan 12th, two weeks b/4 I was due and Dec 25th was just too early. I went to the dr for my check up on the 28th and I was at a three, so the dr said well, we have to get her out. I was so happy... but so sad b/c she was so early! But b/c of the previous C-section with Adin, it had to be done b/c the risks were too high to keep her in. At 4.09pm this is what I saw...

The most perfect baby girl in the world... she was wide awake and even tho she was six weeks early (7 1/2 lbs too!) and had to be in the NICU for her first two days, there were complications with both her and I during the c-section and it's a miracle we are both here... she was amazing and perfect and totally worth every nauseous day and night!

Then she turned one...

And two...

And three...

She has grown up into a pretty awesome young lady and I am thankful for every moment she is in my life. Each whiny, dramatic, sassy moment!

I love this game... I mean I LOVE it... I'm getting married and my name will be Mrs. SWTOR... I've played alot of MMO's in the past... but this is by the far the best! It's even better the WoW and that is a big game to beat out! Yea there is alot of talking, but you need it in order to get a real good feel for the story... you can choose how your character responds to things too! it's not like oh here go do this quest... no you can either be sassy with it, mean with it, refuse it, or just very loyal and nice... the companions rock, the game play is great, the land is gorgeous... it's very magical and FUN!
Oh yea... This game is pretty awesome!!!

Are you getting excited? I know I am! I'm so excited for the kidds this year! Tomorrow starts our holiday with Christmas Eve at the grandparents, the kidds love going over there! Then on Sunday morning... more prezzies! And I will finally have my phone and computer back from the grubby lil hands! hahahaa

Food Crafty - Drawn on Snowflake Cookies

Every year for the holidays I make cookies for our friends and family... It's just a lil something I like to give everyone to let them know that we care about them! Plus everyone LOVES them! This year I stated that I was making gingerbread cookies! Alot of ppl were happy, but some said they didn't care for gingerbread so off to the kitchen I went to make SUGAR COOKIES! They are always a hit! Tho the gingerbread is by far 100 times better... but I wanted to make them look super cute! So here is a lil tute I put together on how to draw on icing w/o those fancy food coloring pens!

First... mix up your favorite sugar cookie recipe

Wrap up your cookie dough and chill... I like to use wax paper, some ppl like to use plastic wrap... but I like to use this as I'm rolling out the dough so I'm kind of saving paper in a way lol

Now it's time for the icing! I love this recipe that I found on Bakerella. I split the recipe in half b/c I didn't need that much icing.

You need... 2 cups of powder sugar

Then you need 2 Tbs of Mergine Powder... I am very new to this stuff... I bought some last week and it really does make all the difference with the icing! It seems to cut the icing down on the super sugary-ness but not too much!

Mix it together with 2 Tbs of water... add more if it's too thick. I end up using about 4 Tbs for this half batch... but it's up to you on how thick you want your icing!

After your dough is chilled... about two/three hours... it's time to cut! Pick your cookie cutter... I'm using circles... don't forget to have some flour nearby to dip your cutter in! It really helps alot and makes it so your cutter doesn't get stuck in the dough...esp with sugar cookie dough!! And another helpful tip... lay down wax paper when you cut... the clean up is a breeze! Or you can use the wax paper you used to cover your dough when you chilled it... look at us being all earth friendly!

Bake your cookies... and remember to set a timer! I know it seems kinda lame... but it really helps if you set a time and then the cookies all come out perfect and yummy!

Let the cookies cool... you don't want a hot cookie melting your icing!

While the cookies are cooling... go clean yourself up!

Now... lets get some MORE wax paper!

Now the fun part! Take some food coloring, I used blue... and some toothpicks... I watered down the coloring a lil bit. Take your icing and decorate your cookies... I just made big circles on mine b/c I'm drawing on them!

Take the toothpick and dip it in the food coloring. Now draw! I've done it on cookies where the icing was still very wet and on ones where it was almost dried... I had better results with the almost dried icing! But it does make a cool watery effect on the wet icing! I let the icing set for about five mins b/4 I started to draw and it came out great!
This is also a very fun food crafty idea for the kiddos! They can draw pretty much anything in the icing on the cookies and then eat it later!!!
So go and have fun drawing on your cookies! And then have even more eating them up!!!!

I used Roller Mae... she is prolly my favorite Mae digi! She is so fun and very versatile! Also... there are a few fun prizes for those of us that want to think outside the box... And me being me... Ho Ho Ho! It's day three! I am busy planning what fun holiday crafts me and the kiddlets will do next week once school is out... so here are some totally fun Christmas Crafts for the kiddos and you to enjoy!!!

Crayola Coloring Pages

My kiddos love to color... and it keeps them quiet! So I always print out coloring pages for them and make their own coloring books... I use many sites to do this but Crayola always has some of the best pages!!

Nick Jr Seasonal Activites

All three of my kiddos are Nick Jr. FREAKS! And I love them as well... their website has a ton of games and even more printables and crafts! No matter what time of year it is they always supply fun things for the preschoolers. Don't watch Nick Jr. shows? Check out the PBS kids and Disney websites!

Recycled Ornaments and Garland

I'm not even half way thru with wrapping my gifts and I already have TONS of scrap papers! And as a paper crafter I have a bag full of scraps that I just can't seem to part with! This is a great activity to use up those scraps and to let the kids have a lil freedom and decorate their rooms! Not to mention, it's a fun and funky outcome!!

Homemade Gift Wrap

Good ole Martha! She never lets me down! How many of you like to save every piece of artwork your child creates? /raises hand This is a great way to purge your stash and add a special touch to the gifts you are wrapping! Esp the once to grandma and grandpa! And the kiddos will fee so special that you are using their art!!

Crayons... our house goes thru them like toilet paper... and with have a 18 month old in the house they get bit and broke all but too often. This is a great way to make something new out of something old! And you can have the kiddos watch them melt... mine always seem to have a ball with that!

SWTOR... /drool I can NOT WAIT for the 20th! I'm so flipping excited for this game. I got to play on the beta weekend over Thanksgiving weekend and it was amazing! Everything I had hopped for and MORE! Only 10 more days and it will be in my lil hands /EEEP

HP jewlery... I'm obsessed with HP and all things HP... I love it! I adore the movies and if I could get away with legally changing my name to Ginny or Hermione I would. No lie! Check out some of these awesome necklaces!

So, Lizzie is having this awesome and fabulous Birthday Blog hop in her own honor which is so cute and so Lizzie! When she put out the message to anyone who wanted to be involved, I jumped at the chance b/c I knew it would be a week full of amazing types of crafting inspiration. Now, I'm a card maker by trade, but I love to color on just about anything and when trying to figure out just what I could make for my #1 fan, I decided on a tshirt. I love Saturated Canary images and I know Lizzie does, too. The image I chose to use is called Copica even thought I know Lizzie had a terrible copic "incident" awhile back and doesn't use them, I couldn't resist. *giggle* We'll just have to pretend it is a paintbrush instead. ;)

Blog Birthday Party Day 4 with Cass

First, I am so honored to be posting for one of my sweetest, most talented, crafty peeps, Ms. Lizzie. I wish her the happiest, craftiest birthday!!

My project is a DIY comic inspired headbands I have seen around on pinterest and other places. The first time I ever saw any of these I immediately thought of Lizzie.

These are made with embroidery machines...that's great....but I don't have one. What's a girl to do? I decided to make one with felt. Fabulous felt. I just can't get enough.

So, I plied my needle and whipped up a few of my own. One for Lizzie...and one for you! That's right! I have one to give away to one lucky winner! Just leave a comment below to be entered into the random drawing!

How'd I do it? Quite simple, actually. I drew a quick sketch for a template of lightning with a border, as well as the letters for ZAP! Because, that's what lightning says. Duh!

(see the glue gun in the pic? Didn't use it.)

Cut out the templates, pinned em to the felt and cut the felt around em.

I sewed the yellow and blue parts together.

The red felt that I have had a strong adhesive on the back, so rather than try to sew really tiny letters to the lightning, I decided to use that. Easy peasy.

But something is missing....BLING. Yeah, it needs stickles. Yeah. That's the stuff. Awesome. Attach to a headband and STYLE!!!

Happy Birthday to my sister from another mister, my twinnie, Lizzie!In celebration, I have two projects to share with you today (and a prize to giveaway to one lucky winner!):

The first is a simple project that would be such an easy gift to make for someone (whether it be for their birthday or for the holidays). It's a picture frame made out of very cheap matierial - cardboard!The grogeous papers I used are from Authentique's "Gathering" collection aside from the blue woodgrain paper which is by Bella Blvd and it's called Family Dynamix - Roots.The adorable little girl is a digital stamp from The Greeting Farms named "Cupcake Anya" that I colored with my BIC markers.The word "birthday" is made up of Tinsel Thickers and the word "girl" is made up of cardstock stickers from Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe Collection. I inked the edges with my all time favorite ink - Vintage Photo by Tim Holtz.

The second project is of course a birthday card! I kept it pretty simple. The base is your average Bazzil Cardstock. I once again used that same woodgrain paper from Bella Blvd that I mentioned before.The yellow pattered paper is from Authentique's Blissful collection.The cute little digitally stamped cake was made by our one and only, Lizzie! I colored it using my BIC markers.All the edges have been inked with Vintage Photo and I scribbled lines around each edge with my Zig Writer marker.The "happy" is a sticker from that same Crate Paper's Emma Shoppe sticker sheet and the "birthday" is made out of tiny alpha stickers from Bo Bonny's Vicki B. Collection.

A few weeks ago my dear friend, Lizzie asked if I would be a part of her weeklong Birthday Bash on Blogger. Well of course I was going to say YES!!! Seriously, she didn't really have to ask. I am so honored to be a part of this and celebrate her birthday.

The amazing Lizzie is letting us take over her blog for 6 whole days and tell the world how much we adore her. That's so easy to do. The best part is that this is a party with PRESENTS!!!. She is holding a giveaway and boy are her prizes AWESOME.

Now I want to share my card I made for her with all of you. Lizzie is an amazing friend and a unique individual. She has such a zeal for life and she is a true gem. I wanted to make a card to represent her as best as I could. I knew that this Wild Sprout - Ebony image by The Greeting Farm was the perfect image to use for Lizzie. I paired it was a cool sentiment freebie from PaperCrafts Magazine. I used this great double sided paper and then for embellishment I cut out some flowers and leaves and popped them up for dimension.

Now I have a special surprise. In addition to Lizzie's great giveaway, I am also giving something away. I put together a baggie with all the supplies I used to make this card. So one lucky person will get a fun card kit.

A Very Smashed Christmas

Okay... so back in Aug/Sept Miss Tami over at Fiskateers asked for a few volunteers to work with some holiday stamps by Fiskars. Me being a very proud Fiskateer said YES OF COURSE PICK ME PICK ME! And a few weeks later I got my stamps!
Now... they sat on my desk for a month... a FULL MONTH and I would NOT figure out what to do! We could NOT make a card or a scrapbook LO... STUMPED I was!
Then I got an idea... you guys know about those Dec Daily books? Why not do a Holiday Smash book! I could make my own!!
So I did!

Isn't that cover cute!?!??! I took some fabric and some old backing from a paper pack and made the covers. Then I used the stamps to decorate the insides and the outside! And I used some of that Jillybean Soup Holiday paper that is so cute! And lots of other things... even a limited edition holiday punch from 2010 from Fiskars!

This was super fun and easy to make! And you know what... it cost me nothing to make b/c I had everything on hand! How about that? A free smash book! I hope you guys all have a very SMASHED Christmas and document all those wonderful times next month!

Digi Sbooking? Wha?

Okay... I'm not going to lie... I haven't stepped foot into the craft room in almost three days
*gasp*
But I have been getting crafty still!!! I got some digi scrapbook software and well... It's pretty awesome! Here is a LO that I did today... I actually love it! I think that I'm going to turn these into a few Christmas Gifts... Like a calendar!

This is Lily on her Bday last year... well her Bday party... for the past two years we did her party on New Years Day... just works out better with the hubs work schedule... anyway... she had a princess Cinderella party!!
Anyway... Digi sbooking is pretty awesome! I use to only do it with my Paint.net but now I have this fun software and it's really easy!
Yay for easy!!

It's beginning to NOT look a lot like Thnxgiving

It's pushing 90 outside... the sun is shining and not letting up... but I refuse to bust out my shorts again!
I am baking my butt off this week and making desserts for the dinners will be attending this year b/c I am NOT hosting anything!
How crazy is this year! It's totally not looking like the end of Nov here in Texas and it certainly doesn't fee like it right now... but it's gonna be amazing!
And while you are are cooking... or cleaning... or hiding prezzies b/c I don't wish for anyone to go shopping for Christmas after this Friday... here is a fun Thanksgiving activity for your kiddos to do! I saw this last nite on the kiki creates blog and just had to share it!

And even tho it's not feeling like Thanksgiving for me... I am still oh so thankful for my family... they are the ones that keep me going! And my hubby for being so amazing... I am thankful everyday for them! And of course I'm thankful for glue... with you Mr. Glue I would not be able to do as much crafting!

Happy Friday everyone! How excited are you that it's the weekend! Well it will the weekend once five o'clock hits! But I hear that most of you are off today anyway b/c of Veterans Day! Lucky ducky's!
Anyway... us girls have been busy, busy over at CMM this week with our NEW CHALLENGE! Do you need to make a few thank you cards? How about Thanksgiving cards? Then this challenge is for you! For the record... I haven't forgotten about you! I've just been a lil busy with the hubs being on vacation! He had 11 blissfully amazing days of him sitting on the computer and watching Young Justice /facepalm
Needless to say I was not left alone for one moment. B/t him and the kidds I was running around nonstop! Not that I don't love him... b/c I mean... I do... Right? Yea? I love him!
I've been drawing up stuffs and getting ideas together... esp for next month! Which btw is not only Christmas but both mine and Lilybug's birthday!
But I did get crafty yesterday... HAIR CRAFTY!
I'm a ginger... but in the summer my red hair tends to be... orange. And in the fall I like to dye my hair a darker color so it's not so... fruitish. I had this idea of a FUN and FUNKY hair dye job.
But first I must bleach some of my hair...

yea... look at that blonde hair! I've never been THAT blonde b/4! It was very shocking and I had to quickly dry and proceed to dye my hair normal again!

Step two... Rockin Red Hair!

It's been a while since I've had an 'unnatural' hair color... and I have to say HOW I'VE MISSED YOU! It's super bright red under neath and a nice auburn on top... it makes it look super fun! And I think I might keep my hair like this for a while... it wasn't that hard to do by myself and I think if I had help next time it might not be as messy! B/c yes... it was SUPER messy... but lily loves the pink and red splatters on her bathroom counter! Hahaha.

Fun stuff huh? What is the craziest thing you have ever done to your hair? Did you like it? Did you keep it? I wanna know!!!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of hosting a party on behave of Fiskars and the Fiskateers... it was alot of work and planning boy was it AMAZING! It was for the state of Texas and even tho only Fiskateers from the Houston area showed up, we represented the whole state with our orange style! We had an awesome Tex Mex Fiesta! Wanna see? Remember Make It Monday? We made a To-Do List of what we wanted to work on this week... well now it's time to show it off! What did you make this week that you are super proud of? Weather or not you linked up on Monday... SHOW IT OFF!!!

Here is what I worked on this week...

Are you a Fiskateer? There are a series of parties going on all around the country and it just so happen I'm hosting for Texas! So I've been busy making things for the party... our party is on the 23rd so it's coming up quick! These are prize ribbons that each person that comes to the party will receive! I'm about half way done with making them!

Here is a scarf I made for the Fiskateer party... I used a pattern I found on Ravelry... I love that site!

So far I got three things checked off my list, along with a few other projects. What did you get done this week? Show me!!!

DIY: Halloween Funky Banner

It's pretty much the start of the best time of year! Halloween! That means awesome muted colors, chai teas, pumpkin spice EVERYTHING... and for me... SUPER CRAFTY FUN TIME!!

Here is a fun DIY halloween banner that is super easy to make! With or without a sewing machine!

First up... supplies!

1. Tons of fabric

2. Tons of ribbon

3. Scissors

4. Some tulle

5. Sewing machine/Needle and thread

Here is a simple way to make a nice triangle... and lots of them! Take a few layers of the fabric you want and fold it half then but a triangle along the folded edge and when you open it, voila! triangle!

Now is the FUN part! Decorating your pennants with more fabric and ribbon and trim! You can do this as you sew, or you can set them all up b/4 hand and then sew them all at the same time... it's up to you.

Now we sew! You can use a machine, or thread and needle... or even a glue gun/reg glue! however you wanna do it! Just adhere everything together!!!

Don't forget to add lots of trims and ribbons! If sewing, don't even bother cutting off those extra strings... just let them hang out and have fun! It adds a lil big of funkiness to the pennants!

Then just string them together... by yarn, or making your own bias tape... or even just gluing to extra fabric you have! Make it as long or short as you want! Now a super fun part!

I even had my five and three year old help me here! Take lots of extra fabric and ribbon and here is where the tulle comes in handy, and tie them between the pennants... this will give the banner a very spooky whimsical look! And my kidds had a blast helping me!!

So it's officially autumn... and this means one thing for me... I will pick up knitting again and try to learn! For two years now I've been trying to re-learn how to knit... how did I do with back when I was 8? No clue!

So with my new 'Knit the Royal Wedding' book I'm trying to practice again... *sigh* This could be a long season!

Just a Few Cards and Few Challenges

I've been a busy bee these past few days... with the craft room coming together I feel like I can relax a bit and not stress out when I'm making stuffs! And having my handy dandy awesome new printer is making things so wonderful with my digi stamp loving self!!

Here are a few cards and a tag I made and they fit into some amazing challenges *gawk* so go check them out!

First up is the tag... it's for the 12 weeks of christmas holiday challenges over on the SOG flickr group!

I used Love Letter Kaylee mixed with some crate paper umm papers and MME lime twist

Next is a fun card I made for two challenges... the MIC color challenge and the SOG stitched up challenge
The image is actually a make it crafty freebie! pumpkins... how could I NOT grab it!! The challenge at MIC is black and orange... Throw in some echo park papers and a lil studio g (have you seen their new papers? CUTE!!) and MLS alphas and you have a super cute fall card!!

And yes... ANOTHER card! This is for the TPS rip something challenge

I used Lil Little Lolita Lilith... yes that's a mouthful! And again with the studio g papers... again cute huh? I also have a pop of echo park and the ever trusty MLS alphas!

And for my last card... a cute fall card using more SOG! This card is for the fiskateers Card Lifters... for a full year you make a card a week by lifting a fellow fiskateer!

I used Roller Mae and colored her with my water colors, also there are papers previously used... what can I say? I'm obsessed with fall/halloween colors this week! The tree branch is from maya road, and I cut the leaves out with my squeeze.

And there you have it... my busy bee-ness! I'm also thinking... I might do a video when the craft room is done! It should be done in a few weeks... yay!!!

you know i loves me a challenge... esp when it's by TPS... the challenge this week is to use chipboard! easy peasy! just so happens i had an unopened maya road chipboard pack sitting in my stash just for this challenge!!! i used the ever adorable lil lolita ivy with her cute hat and made a cute halloween card... which can double as a oct birthday card! get it... boo day... birthday day? yea its a knee slapper!!

i think i need to boost up my digi stamp stash... as i have this amazing new printer and only a few to print off... and i do believe tomorrow is the start of digi week at TPS where you can get their digis... wait... it's in australasia... so it's already the 15th there now right? hahahahaaa

the most frustrating thing in the world

we have moved... and the craft room has no decorations! not even curtains... so i thought... why not just make them!!!

this is the mess on my desk... and as i was sewing i realized something... i just sewn over five feet of fabric on a seven (it's a tiny stitch!) and i'm just over it!

can you see my face? OVER IT!

so i thought... maybe it would make a nice costume instead and then i wouldn't have to sit there for a few hours taking out all these stitches...

but then i realized i would then have to take out all the stitches to the quilted part of the curtains and that just threw me over the edge!!!

so why not just deal with it... hopefully after a handful of time i'll learn my lesson! i doubt it... but now ima go sit on the couch with my seam ripper and watch some hell's kitchen until it's time to go pick up the kiddo from school... and while i wait in that never ending line, i'll have my hand dandy seam ripper and curtain with me and just take out my frustration on the lil white threads... grrr!!!!!

as you have seen... i have not blogged in two months... for me that is like two years since i have been blogging at least twice a week for over ten years! things have been in a rut for me... but thankfully i'm back! i love to craft and just needed to separate myself from all the hub bub of crafting for a while... to think things out and rediscover who i am with crafting and my projects... with all the inspiration out there it's VERY hard to lose yourself!! so it's nice to take a step back and re-think things!

anyway... i've been making some cards! you'll have to wait til tomorrow for a very special card... but here is one i did today for the SOG thank you challenge. as you know, i hardly ever enter challenges... but i love the SOG team and have worked with their images for the longest time and they are SOO cute and fun!

ain't she purrty?? i'm getting better and better with my water coloring skills! it makes me a tad bit happy. esp since we all know of the great copic disaster of '09 that hit my home... but back to my card... it's nice to be able to make things that i truly enjoy. hopefully the mojo keeps flowing and i can start christmas gifties! lol

we are a baseball/t ball family! it was opening day yesterday for the little league here in texas city and we had a blast! first up... parade meet up!

adin was so excited to be apart of the parade! we always watch the parades... which btw our town has A LOT of parades! at least one a month!! hahahaa lily having a little snack and cheesing it up as we finish up the float!everyone did such an amazing job on the float! i have to say it was one of the best ones there! yay blue jays!!and the introductions at the sports plex... it's funny... they made all the minor league players sit in the dirt and first up for pictures... were adin's team! they were nice and orange and had that 'we just got done whooping some butt' look in their photos hahahaa
it was hott... BOY was it HOTT! but adin had a blast! i'm so happy we decided to do the t ball thing this year! and lily got a ton of candy from the parade too! it should last until the 4th of july parade next month... see a parade every month! hahahaa
and now that i'm beat red and sore from the all the sun... i'm going to sit on my bed and watch t.v and crochet! it seems to be the only crafty thing i can do now a days!

so it might not be 'officially' summer but boy it feels like it! it's been in the 90's all week and today was the last day of school!! my lil man will be in kindergarten this coming fall and he is so excited! he did very well this year and we are all proud of his progress!

i have a secret... i've been working on something amazing... actually a few things that are amazing! here is a lil sneak of a necklace i've made using a lil elementary know how!

this project is about taking trash... okay trash isn't the right word... taking un-wanted items and turning them into something beautiful!

the kiddlets love it when i tell them stories... but sometimes i forget exactly how a story goes and they get upset! so to avoid the hulk smash! break downs i made a cute lil journal for me to jot down the lil stories i tell the kiddlets and hopefully i won't forget the major details of trucky and his truck adventures that adin loves oh so much
and who knows... maybe i'll get brave and actually make them into lil books for the kidds... oh a bind it all would come in so handy then! *hint* hub bub *hint*

there is this fun group of crazy ladies that get together on this amazing board called tallyscrapper.com
and every year they have this fun survivor challenge... b/c a few of them are obsessed with the show and thought to make a fun challenge that lasts the duration of the show! anyway... it's fun and it's the LAST week! i've personally never made it to the last week so i'm super excited! i always end up missing a week and b/c of that i get 'voted' off... that's the challenge you see... do the weekly challenges every week so you don't get voted off... and the winner gets a free kit or other prizes... it's always different but there is always a kit involved!! p.s have you checked out the kits... miss pinky is doing a FAB job with them *drool*

it's that time again ppl! card makin' mama's has a new challenge! with all the hullabaloo with blogger the past few days it took a hott minute to get everything in order but at last we do it! or more jess and dee did it!

the challenge we have for you at cmm is a simple yet fun one! 1,2,3... 1 image... 2 papers... and 3 embellies! there is no excuse not to try! here is my card using a cute SOG digi and testing out my water colors... fyi i had this card all pretty! then jax got ahold of it and nibbled a bit and well... my mae's hair isn't so cute anymore... but i did the best i could to fix it! lesson learned... once card is finished PHOTOGRAPH IT!!

embelished tank top

i saw this lil tute on ucreate the other day and i thought I CAN TOTALLY DO THAT! plus i had this gray tank top that wasn't doing anything special in my closet anyway lol

so i found my tank top... and some pink jersey i had laying around and i made my own rendition of it! and i have to say... i'm totally stoked on how it came out!

now i need to go find/buy more plain tank tops and shirts to do the same thing with! why spend 20-40 bucks on something you can do for 2-15? i love when things work out! lol

last week while attending one of the ustream chats she challenged us ALL to make a lil inspirational book! and i hopped to the challenge... b/c i love a good challenge! and i had these amazing book covers from 7 gypsies that i got in the march tallyscrapper kit just waiting for something amazing to be transformed into!

mother's day 2011

my mother's day was adorable! adin and the hub bub made me breakfast in bed which consisted of microwavable sausage biscuits lol and then adin gave me the sweetest handmade card with some handmade flowers!

then it was off to a get together at the hub bubs brothers house where all the kiddlets were super nice to all the mommas... they all behaved very well and it was nice to not have to worry about what kind of crazy shanagans they were getting in! b/c let me tell you... when you get these four together it's very interesting tee hee
while i was enjoying the niceness... i looked over to see the hub bub giving the BABY a drink of coke! keeping the easy go spirit i let it pass... for now... next time i might have to give him a swift smack to the head!
